John William Bailey warranty deed, 1840.

Indenture, more specifically a warranty deed, between John William Bailey and Caroline Emily Thurber Bailey of New Orleans and Ezra Thurber of Champlain (Clinton County), New York, by which the Baileys sell to Ezra Thurber a parcel of land in Plattsburgh (Clinton County). The indenture is a printed form with details about the individuals involved and the boundaries of the parcel added by hand. The Baileys both signed and affixed small, paper-covered wax seals to the indenture. On the back of the indenture is a note by Henry Adams Bullard, a judge of the Supreme Court of Louisiana, attesting to the presence and free will of the signers, and Bullard's seal. Attached over this note by the wax of the seal is a document from the office of André Bienvenu Roman, governor of Louisiana, certifying Bullard's status as a judge of the Supreme Court of Louisiana.
